The ASL Freight team, in collaboration with ASL Customs, completed the complex transportation of the complete set design for the production of ‘Boris Godunov’ from the Grand Theatre in Warsaw to the Tokyo National Opera
Challenge
Due to the date of the premiere in Japan, there was no room for any delay due to transport or customs. The complete set also had to be transported back to Warsaw after six months. The shipment included the complete set, props, costumes and technical materials.
Solution
The transport was split: the scenery elements, along with technical materials and props, were packed into three containers and transported by sea, while some of the costumes flew by air to allow time for the necessary tailoring alterations on site. Efficient customs handling (ATA carnet) and close cooperation with the agent, who cleared and delivered the equipment directly to Tokyo National Opera within the allotted time, were crucial.
