ASL Freight carried out the air transport of a production line from Poland to India on behalf of a US partner. On behalf of the American partner, the entire production line had to be shipped in 1 package. The problem was to find a carrier that would accurately describe the maximum dimensions of the cargo on a B747 type aircraft. Very non-standard shipment sizes: 460x300x260 cm and the weight of the production line being transported: more than 10 tonnes were giving the customs agency a hard time (460x300x260 cm.). And the weight of the production line being transported (10700) kg did not make things any easier.
The very non-standard size of the shipment: 460x300x260 cm and the weight of the production line to be transported: over 10 tonnes posed quite a challenge for both our forwarding agents and customs agents. As the goods have to be verified at the airport for safety reasons, the manufacturer had to have a door made in the crate so that it would be possible for a customs officer to enter the crate and verify the cargo. The packaging of the cargo also had to be ideally suited to the carrier’s requirements (suitable fixings for loading hooks, etc.).
This complex transport was a success. Thanks to the coordinated action of ASL’s experts , it was possible to professionally secure the production line being transported and the entire load arrived at the designated location on schedule.
